Brazilian telecom agency – Anatel opens public hearing on IOT and M2M regulatory barriers

On August 2, 2019, ANATEL’s Board of Directors opened a public hearing to discuss the regulations applied on Internet of Things (“IoT”) and machine-to-machine (“M2M”) technologies.

The consultation aims to assess whether ANATEL’s current regulations for IoT and M2M applications prevent such technologies from being used in their totality, therefore interfering Brazil’s development as a possible technological center.

The deadline for submitting contributions and suggestions – which must be related to quality, licensing and service standards – ends on September 19, 2019 and may be sent by letter, fax, electronic correspondence or by completing the Public Consultation Monitoring Interactive System’s electronic form available (in Portuguese) through the link.
