On July 27, a decision by the Brazilian Court of Auditors (TCU) to dissolve a joint working group on leniency agreements was published in the Brazilian Official Gazette.
In July 2017, this group was jointly created with other goverment bodies responsible for such agreements: the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE), the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office, the General Attorney’s Office (AGU), the Ministry of Transparency and the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU), for a harmonious and collaborative negotiation and signature of leniency agreements, as well as to reduce possible contradictions among them.
It is speculated that the group was dissolved due to a disagreement among these bodies with respect to the prior approval of the agreements terms demanded by TCU.
