Much has been discussed recently about digital platform markets and the relevance the data can have on the performance of the services and the products offered by them. One of the decisions that had the greatest impact on data use was the condemnation of Facebook, in regards to the sharing of data from WhatsApp users, by the European Commission (the European bloc’s competition defense body). However, the decision must be analyzed with care to be properly understood.
