ANTITRUST LAW

Antitrust Law is the daily area of practice of the lawyers at Grinberg Cordovil Advogados (GCA). All of them have experience in dealing with the Brazilian Antitrust Authority (CADE) and the Judicial Branch in matters that range from structure (concentrations resulting from consolidations, mergers, joint ventures, etc.) to conducts (cartel, discrimination, abuse of dominant market position, refusal of sale, resale price maintenance, predatory pricing, etc.), providing advisory services and preparing compliance programs in these areas. In short, GCA is active in Antitrust Law in various ways, always with renowned excellence:

(i) Defending clients accused of antitrust violations or that want to make complaints against a violator;
(ii) Operating in mergers in connection with transactions carried out by its clients or third-party transactions that are harmful to its clients;
(iii) Implementing compliance programs;
(iv) Providing advisory services in issues of structure and conduct.

International Trade

Grinberg Cordovil Advogados ‘(GCA) team was one of the pioneers in representing clients in antidumping investigations in Brazil. GCA has represented the domestic industry, importers, exporters, associations, and governments in antidumping, subsidies, and safeguard investigations, as well as tariff changes (including the List of Exceptions to the Common External Tariff (LETEC)). GCA operates before (i) the Ministry of Development, Industry and Commerce (MDIC), (ii) the Chamber of Foreign Trade (CAMEX), (iii) and the Ministry of Finance, precisely the Office of Economic Supervision (SEAE). In short, GCA’s work includes trade defense and international trade in a number of ways:

(i) Representing clients in dumping, subsidies, and safeguard procedures in Brazil and abroad;
(ii) Providing advisory services in foreign trade;
(iii) Helping clients in demands (always between countries) before the World Trade Organization (WTO);
(iv) Helping clients adapt their products to international trade before the proper authorities.

Anti-Corruption Law

Obviously corruption has always been prohibited, but the law has become ever more sensitive to the problem in recent years. The law firm Grinberg Cordovil Advogados (GCA) has been in this area of practice for a very long time, mainly due to its intersection with antitrust law. In fact, there are occasions in which one conduct leads to another and this has been GCA’s constant concern, not only while defending clients, but also with the preparation of compliance programs which, initially addressed only antitrust law, and have since started to include anticorruption matters. The chief tasks of the programs are prevention and identification of potentially dangerous conducts.
